Company Patch
Charlie Company has adopted the 1st Cavalry Division patch known as the “First Team.” The traditional Cavalry color of yellow and the horse’s head is symbolic of the Cavalry. The black is symbolic of iron, alluding to the transition from mounted horses to tanks and heavy armor. The black stripe represents a baldric, which is a standard army belt worn over the right shoulder, (better known today as Sam brown belts) which retains either a scabbard which sheaths the trooper’s saber or revolver holster. It’s the Army’s largest patch and was designed by Mrs. Dorcy in 1921 at Fort Bliss Texas. Mrs. Dorcy later explained, “We made it that way because it is worn by big men and big women who do big things.” |
